Balayage is a French word for "sweeping." Every stroke is placed by hand — not foiled, not chunked, not templated. Each placement responds to your face shape, your natural growth, and the way light hits you specifically.

Because balayage starts below the root, there's no harsh regrowth line. Your color grows out softly and naturally — meaning fewer appointments and no awkward in-between phase.

Most clients return every 10–14 weeks. Some stretch to 16. The color keeps looking intentional the whole time.

How is balayage different from highlights?
Highlights use foil to isolate sections of hair, creating uniform stripes. Balayage is painted freehand directly onto the hair — the result is softer, more natural, and with no harsh lines at the root or ends. It also grows out far more gracefully.
Can I get balayage on dark hair?
Yes — and it's one of the most beautiful results. Dark hair with balayage creates rich dimension and depth that blonde-on-blonde simply can't achieve. We'll be honest with you about what's achievable in one appointment based on your starting point.
How do I maintain my balayage at home?
We provide a personalised home care protocol at every appointment — including shampoo, conditioning, and toning recommendations specific to your color and lifestyle. Using the right sulphate-free products doubles the life of your tone.
How much does balayage cost at MMA Salon?
Luxury French Balayage starts at $395 for a full 2h 30min session including conditioning and blowout. A Gloss & Tone Refresh is $185. Root Melt + Blowout is $295. Exact pricing depends on hair length and density — confirmed at consultation.
How often do I need to come in?
Every 10–16 weeks depending on your desired result and how fast your hair grows. One of the biggest advantages of balayage is this flexibility — you're never locked into a 6-week schedule the way you are with traditional highlights.
